The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for all of Rhode Island effective at approximately 4:30 p.m. Saturday and lasting through Sunday at 7 p.m.
The NWS says there is a potential for heavy snowfall, with accumulation of 4 to 8 inches. Winds are expected to increase after midnight and visibility may become poor. Initially, wet snow and strong winds could result in downed tree limbs and power lines.
A Winter Storm Warning is issued when 6 or more inches of snow is expected in a 12-hour time frame.
