Buses, trains and planes are suspending travel today in preparation for the severe winter storm predicted to dump 1 to 2 feet of snow on the region.

"Morning flights went out probably completely full," said Peter Frazier, interim President and CEO of the Rhode Island Airport Corporation Friday. He told Gene Valicenti on the WPRO Morning News that  T.F. Green had "long lines, people trying to get out ahead of the storm," this morning.

By Friday afternoon, air traffic out of T.F. Green Airport will come to a halt, since almost all of the flights after 1:30 p.m. have been cancelled. 

"Almost all the afternoon flights are cancelled, and virtually all the flights are cancelled tomorrow until late Saturday evening," said Frazier. 

He said those with plane tickets to T.F. Green today should call their carrier to double check on cancellations or delays.

"There's no reason for you to be stranded or stuck at the airport," he said. 

On the water, ferry service to Block Island has been cancelled.

On land, RIPTA will suspend local bus service starting at noon Friday. Peter Pan Bus Lines have cancelled all service north of New York City for Friday, Feb. 8.

Amtrak will suspend service Friday afternoon for their Northeast Regional and Amtrak trains between New York and Boston. The MBTA will also suspend commuter rail service for their Providence/Stoughton line at 3:30 p.m. Friday.
