Rhode Island State Police announced on Wednesday afternoon the arrest of 49 individuals after an early morning warrant sweep.
“The purpose of this coordinated sweep was to target violent and habitual offenders who commit criminal acts in our communities and fail to appear in courts. In addition to those persons wanted, the sweep operation resulted in narcotic and weapons charges, including the seizure of a Keltec 9MM semi automatic handgun with hollow point ammunition as well as approximately one once of crack cocaine,” says Connell Steven O’Donnell of the Rhode Island State Police.
State Police say the individuals arrested had outstanding arrest warrants that went up to 3 years ago. All the people were processed at State Police Headquarters and transported by the Rhode Island Sheriff’s Department to the Providence Superior Court and 6thDivision District Court in Providence.
