Pawtucket Police are investigating what may be a possible murder-suicide situation at a trendy downtown loft building in Pawtucket.

Police responded to an apartment on the first floor of 125 Lofts at 125 Goff Avenue in Pawtucket on Wednesday around noon time after receiving a call from the loft manager.

Two adults in thier early twenties, a male and a female, were found dead inside the apartment. The male appeared to have been hanged while the female appeared to have been suffocated, although the cause of death is yet to be determined.

Police say the male was found with a coaxial cable tied around his neck and tied to a railing on the loft part of the apartment. The female was found dead in her bed. There were no obvious signs of trauma to her body.

The individuals were found when the female’s father showed up to the apartments because he could not contact his daughter and her employer had notified him that she did not show up on Wednesday. The scene was described as grisly.

The young couple were tenants of the building and according to sources in the building the pair had been high school sweethearts. It is believed that the male was in the service and the female was training at the nearby Wyatt Detention Center in Central Falls. Sources say that the incident may have been a result of jealousy related to a possible love triangle.

The loft management alerted tenants on Wednesday afternoon that is was a “suicide situation.”

The following email was issued:

“We regret to inform you of the tragic loss of one of our tenants today.

Although the police are still investigating, it appears to be a suicide situation.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.”

In October of 2010, one of the mill buildings at 125 Lofts was set on fire. The police suspect it was caused by arsonists. The building is the former Union Wadding Co. Mill.

This sign was on the front door of the apartment where the incident took place:
