Providence has once again bottomed out the list of honest cities scoring ten percentage points below the national average.
The beverage company Honest Tea puts Providence in last place with 83 percent of people being recorded as honest. Every year the company sets up a kiosk in major cities with bottles of ice tea and a sign asking for one dollar enforced by the honor system. Nearby observers then record how many people stole or paid for the bottled tea.
Co-founder and CEO of Honest Tea Seth Goldman said despite the last place finish, Providence has improved.
“Last Year, Providence’s honesty percentage was 80 percent, this year it was 83 percent so that is is good that it is better than last year,” said Goldman.
The honesty average is listed at 94 percent.
Goldman said woman were more honest than men in Providence with 93 percent of women paying for the tea compared to only 79 percent of men.
“Redheads in Providence were 100 percent honest,” Goldman continued.
Atlanta topped the list with a 100 percent honesty rating, followed by Indianapolis and San Diego with 99 and 97 percent respectively.
