The Rhode Island native who faked his death, Nicholas Alahverdian, extradited Friday from Scotland to the U.S. to face sex assault charges in Utah, put up a fight on the tarmac in Scotland.

That country’s leading tabloid newspaper reports that Alahverdian “was roaring and crying” as he left jail in Edinburgh to be put on a flight, wrestling with staff on the tarmac with his trousers at his ankles.

WPRI-TV reports that Alahverdian is now in a jail outside Salt Lake City, and will eventually be arraigned in Utah County.

The Daily Record of Edinburgh reports his wife, Miranda Knight tried to take legal steps to block the flight from leaving Edinburgh Airport, where Alahverdian, whom authorities in Scotland identified as Nicholas Rossi, was accompanied by the U.S. Marshall’s Service and the Department of Justice.

Alahverdian’s extradition was approved by a judge in a court in Scotland in October, and he was given no notice of when he would be moved to the U.S.
