Central Falls man charged in Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol attack

A Central Falls man was arrested Thursday by FBI agents in the January 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol, among the hundreds of people charged in the attack … on the date Congress certified results of the 2020 election.

An arrest warrant and complaint for Juan Rodriguez was issued June 22. An affidavit states that Rodriguez initially denied entering the Capitol, and later admitted surveillance and other photos depicted him inside the building.

The warrant, charging Rodriguez with entering and remaining in … and disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, among other counts, orders him to appear before a federal Magistrate Judge in Washington, D.C.

He is the 27th person arrested by the FBI Boston office in the Capitol attack.

Other Rhode Islanders arrested in connection to the Capitol assault include:

Bernard Joseph Sirr, 47, of North Kingstown was sentenced May 23 to serve two months in prison.

William Cotton, 53, of Hopkinton, was arrested in December, 2022 in connection to the Capitol riot.

Timothy Desjardins, of Providence was sentenced to 18 years in prison on unrelated state charges in a 2021 shooting in Providence.
