Providence will continue its tradition of offering summer jobs, along with educational and recreation programs to young people, including low-cost play and enrichment programs and free meals.
“We want to ensure that our kids have access to all of the sports, all the nutrition, all of the mentorship and everything they need to stay on track,” Mayor Jorge Elorza said Tuesday at the city-run Madeline Rogers-Selim recreation center.
Under the banner, “Eat, Play Learn PVD”, the city will begin taking registration for the programs April 30 on a special website, EatPlayLearnPVD.com
Youth jobs will pay a minimum wage of $15 per hour. A wide range of play opportunities and summer camps are being offered.
The city is also teaming with the Nonviolence Institute to provide anti-violence training for youth ages 15-24.
