CHARLESTOWN, R.I. (AP) — One driver was killed and a second suffered moderate injuries in a head-on crash in Charlestown.
Police say the crash occurred on Route 91 at about 5:45 a.m. Friday.
Responding officers found an SUV and pickup truck, both with heavy front-end damage consistent with a head on collision.
The SUV had been traveling east and the pickup truck had been heading west.
The drivers, both men, were trapped and had to be extricated by rescue crews.
They were taken to the hospital where the SUV driver was pronounced dead. No names were released.
The crash remains under investigation.
