CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) — A 73-year-old Rhode Island man faces a murder charge in the shooting death of his girlfriend’s adult son.

Cranston police say Charles Gangi shot and killed 41-year-old Paul Zois on Tuesday during a “heated argument” in the home they shared.

Chief Col. Michael Winquist says police found Zois unconscious and suffering from gunshot wounds shortly before 3 p.m.

He was pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital. Police also recovered two guns at the scene.

No plea was entered on behalf of Gangi to murder and weapons charges, and he was ordered held without bail by a judge in District Court in Warwick on Wednesday, according to court records.
