RI GOP Chair removes accused molester from Providence Leadership Post

PROVIDENCE – Pastor Roy Bolden has been removed from his position as Chairman of the Providence Republican City Committee after child molestation allegations.

Roy D. Bolden Jr. was arraigned Wednesday on child molestation and sexual assault charges. Providence Police Sgt. Philip Hart says the 33-year-old pastor, an apostle of the Legions of Christ Ministries, will likely face more charges after the case moves to the attorney general’s office.

Rhode Island Democratic Party Chairman Rep. Joe McNamara joined the Dan Yorke Show to call for the RI GOP to disassociate with Mr. Bolton.

Rhode Island Republican Party Chairman Brandon Bell later joined Dan’s show to share that pending committee procedure, Mr. Bolton has effectively been removed from his political position.

City Police Maj. David Lapatin says a 21-year-old man told police Friday that he met Bolden at the church and that Bolden began sexually molesting him when he was 12 years old.
