Warwick Police have identified the father who shot and killed his young son Thursday morning in their Frawley Street home.
In a statement Friday, Chief Bradford Connor said police were called to the home by Estefania Dempsey, 33, who said that her husband, Seamus Depsey, 33 shot their son with a handgun, and that her 79-year old mother-in-law, Ellen Dempsey was still inside the home.
Officers were able to help Ellen Dempsey out of the home safely, and discovered the body of the couple’s child, four-year old Liam Dempsey, as well as his father’s body. Each had died from a gunshot wound.
“While detectives continue to gather evidence and piece together the events leading up to this horrific crime, the members of the Warwick Police Department continue to send our deepest condolences to the family members affected by this senseless and unimaginable act as well as the countless others in our community who have been impacted. As a community, we are saddened by the events that occurred yesterday,” Chief Connor said in a statement.
