Two people were found shot early Wednesday morning inside a home in Cumberland, where police there is no danger to the public.
Officers responded to the home at 28 Birchwood Drive off Nate Whipple Highway at 6:41 to find two adults suffering from gunshot wounds, and were pronounced dead at the scene, according to a statement from Cumberland Police Chief Matthew J. Benson.
“The Cumberland Police Department offers its thoughts and prayers to the family, friends and loved ones of those who were affected by this tragedy,” said the statement.
The home was ringed by crime scene tape, and officers stood in the yard as investigators from the Attorney General’s office arrived on the scene about four hours later.
The incident remains under active investigation by Cumberland Police, said the statement.
