Police identify victims of weekend shootings in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Providence police have released the names of two victims shot and killed within 20 minutes of each other over the weekend in what were apparently unconnected homicides.

Police on Monday said 24-year-old Daniel Zairis was shot at about 2 a.m. Saturday as he left a nightclub. He died at the hospital.

About 20 minutes later, police responded to a convenience store where they found 23-year-old Andrei Bonilla in his car suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are looking for the woman’s former boyfriend, identified by police as Andrew Mangru, age 22 of Providence.

There have now been 18 homicides in the city this year.
