PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A 46-year-old man struck by a vehicle in Providence while crossing the street has died.

Providence police said Monday Phetsamone Ratsabout had been was attempting to cross the street at around 11:30 p.m. Sunday when he was struck by an SUV.

He was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the driver stopped immediately and cooperated with their investigation.

WPRI-TV reports Ratsabout was struck in an area not marked with a crosswalk and had a disability that required him to use his hands and feet to navigate the roadway.
