A 32-year old North Providence man was ordered held without bail Monday, no plea was entered to a change that he murdered a man in Providence early Saturday morning in the Olneyville section of the capital, according to court records.

Kenneth Hernandez was referred to a public defender following his District Court arraignment in the shooting death of David Camacho, 32 of Providence.

The two men had left a nightclub on Broad Street and drove to an after-hours party off Julian Street when, at about 2:30 A.M., Camacho was gunned down, said Providence Police Major David Lapatin.

Lapatin said people following in another car had circled the block to look for a parking space, only to return about a minute later.

“They noticed both car doors were open, Mr. Camacho was laying in the street, shot several times, and Mr. Hernandez was no where to be found,” he said.

Lapatin said Hernandez later learned police were looking to question him, he turned himself in, and was arrested after several hours of questioning.
