WESTBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — A First Amendment rights organization with the backing of journalists’ organizations is asking Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo to resume full media briefings and respond to reporters’ questions.
The New England First Amendment Coalition says the Democratic governor has not made herself available for questioning from journalists since she was nominated to serve as commerce secretary in the Joe Biden administration.
The coalition in a letter to Raimondo Tuesday said responding to questions is one of her duties, especially during the coronavirus pandemic.
A spokesperson for Raimondo says Department of Health officials have been updating residents and the governor will address Rhode Islanders in her State of the State address on Feb. 3.
