PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Police say animal rights activists protesting outside a poultry shop in Providence threw fake blood and used pepper spray on workers.
Police said a group of about a dozen protesters gathered outside Antonelli Poultry Co. on Saturday and wrote phrases in chalk such as “Don’t hurt animals for anything” outside the store.
Police say the workers confronted the activists and the activists deployed pepper spray at them before fleeing.
Police said they are looking for the protesters, who could face assault charges.
