Central Falls gives residents better access to parks

CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (AP) — Central Falls has reached a benchmark in its goal to give every resident easy access to a park or green space.

The city recently became the third in the U.S. where 100% of its residents have a park or green space within a 10-minute walk.

Mayor James Diossa and the 10 Minute Walk campaign say in a statement the city has made steady progress to expand access to green space since joining the campaign in 2017.

The project calls for U.S. cities to commit to serving 100% of their residents with safe, easy access to a park or green space by 2050.
