Police said four men are in custody following a deadly stabbing Thursday in the Providence Place Mall.

Police Chief Hugh Clements said police were called to the mall’s food court just after 11:30 A.M. on reports of a fight and a stabbing.

There, they found a 19-year old man, who was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators aren’t discussing what led to the stabbing but say the the victim and assailants were all know to each other and the incident was isolated.

Neither the victim nor the suspects were immediately identified.

“This mall is very safe, this is an isolated incident, however, it’s a really, really bad, tragic incident inside the Mall”, said Col. Clements.

Police believe this is the first homicide inside the mall since it opened in 1999.
