PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) – A city councilor in Pawtucket is apologizing for actions and comments he directed toward a colleague that she said were disrespectful, reprehensible, and embarrassing.

City Councilor Elena Vasquez said in a letter to the council president obtained by the Pawtucket Times that Councilman Mark Wildenhain threw two $1 bills at her and said “take a bus back to Colombia” during a holiday gathering a city restaurant on Dec. 16.

Vasquez wrote that she is proud of her Guatemalan heritage.

Vasquez requested that council President David Moran condemn the aggression.

Wildenhain says he absolutely stepped over a line.
