Federal and state agents raided a maintenance business in East Providence Wednesday, officers from the Massachusetts Attorney General’s office and Massachusetts State Police carted away boxes as an East Providence officer and a Rhode Island state trooper stood by.
The raid occurred at Martins Maintenance, which occupies two adjacent buildings at 481 and 487 Waterman Avenue, and bills itself as a national provider of janitorial and maintenance solutions for commercial customers for over 35 years.
Neighbors said they saw Homeland Security officers and police outside the buildings early Wednesday morning. Officers wearing windbreakers marked Massachusetts State Police and Massachusetts Attorney General took boxes out of the buildings, placing them into a nearby van.
Officers at the scene did not discuss the operation, referring calls to the Massachusetts Attorney General’s office, which did not immediately respond to inquiries.
