PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Officials say a former Rhode Island high school assistant principal who was involved in a physical altercation with a student will not be charged with a crime.

WPRI-TV reports Providence Public Safety Commissioner Steven Pare said Tuesday that criminal charges have not been brought against “any adult” in the incident. The police investigation has been closed.

Former Central High School Assistant Principal Thomas Bacon resigned from the Providence Public School Department last month after video of the altercation in the school’s cafeteria circulated on social media.

The incident involved a 15-year-old student, who’s accused of elbowing a staff member. It’s unclear if he faces charges.

Providence City Councilman John Igliozzi last week called for cameras to be placed in all classrooms, gyms, cafeterias and hallways in city schools.
