PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — An ailing Rhode Island mobster convicted of trying to hire a hit man to kill a rival has been released from a federal prison in Massachusetts.

WPRI-TV reports that the U.S. Marshals Service and the Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed Wednesday that 75-year-old Anthony “The Saint” St. Laurent Sr. was released from the Federal Medical Center Devens in Ayer.

Neither agency would give St. Laurent’s current location.

St. Laurent, who has several health issues, was sentenced in 2011 to seven years in prison.

Prosecutors say St. Laurent solicited an informant to kill Robert DeLuca. St. Laurent, who has acknowledged being a “made” member of La Cosa Nostra, said he only intended to “scare” DeLuca. The hit was never carried out.

St. Laurent remains on probation for three years.
