COVENTRY, R.I. (AP) — The Central Coventry Fire Department’s board of directors is planning to appoint a new fire chief.

WPRI-TV reports the board announced Monday that it will start the process of appointing Peter Lamb as the district’s fire chief. Lamb would replace Interim Fire Chief Shawn Murray, whose employment agreement expires on Nov. 30.

Murray submitted his resignation in late September.

Lamb has served as the fire chief in North Attleborough, Massachusetts for eight years. He also served as the Tiverton Fire Chief and Emergency Management Director for 10 years.

The financially troubled district filed for bankruptcy last December and has had problems making its payroll. A judge in September approved a motion to dismiss the district’s Chapter 9 bankruptcy case, which ended its receivership after three years.
