PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Carrie Fisher won’t be in a galaxy far, far away, but the Star Wars actress still had to scrap plans to attend the Rhode Island Comic Con.
Comic Con is a traveling expo for fans of comics, movies, cartoons and other items of pop culture.
WPRI-TV reports convention officials announced Fisher was forced to cancel her appearance at this weekend’s event due to illness.
Officials say fans who purchased tickets to meet Fisher will receive refunds. Fisher has already rescheduled to return to the event next year.
Comic Con begins at 3 p.m. Friday at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center and the Rhode Island Convention Center.
