The man behind several well-known Providence restaurants has been ordered by the US Department of Labor to pay over one hundred thousand dollars in back wages owed to food servers.

According to the DOL, investigators found Andrew Mitrelis, owner and operator of Café Paragon, Andreas Restaurant, Better Burger Co., and Mile & A Quarter underpaid 17 workers by not accounting for all hours worked, underpaying on overtime, and not adding bonuses in employee’s rates of pay for overtime hours worked.

Additionally, Mitrelis was also in violation of federally mandated record keeping requirements over the minimum wage.

As a result, Mitrelis is required to pay more than $135,000 in back wages and damages to the affected employees.

A message was left with Mitrelis Enterprises for comment.
