PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – Former Gov. Lincoln Chafee left his successor, Gov. Gina Raimondo, transition memos detailing management issues she’ll face.
Among the problems are bid protests, previously unannounced union drives and increasing troubles among patients at the state hospital.
The Providence Journal reports that in one memo, the state Lottery disclosed that 14 employees voted last fall to join Teamsters Local 251 and contract negotiations were imminent.
In another memo, the Department of Administration reported bid protests motivated by competition for limited bidding.
The state agency that oversees the Eleanor Slater Hospital reported a dramatic increase in court-ordered evaluations and inpatient admissions that have led to more civil units that’s led to safety concerns such as increased violence among patients.
Most memos ended with a list of “key decisions” Raimondo must make.
