PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – A statewide grand jury has concluded that an officer-involved shooting that injured a man in Warwick in August was justified.
Attorney General Peter Kilmartin’s office says the grand jury concluded its investigation Wednesday into the shooting of Kenneth Cunningham. The actions of Warwick Police Sgt. Timothy Marshall, Det. David Morrow and patrol officer Darren Parrillo were found to be legally justified.
Authorities said at the time that Cunningham opened fire on police following a chase, after an officer ran the plates on a suspicious truck and learned Cunningham was wanted in California for a probation violation from 1995.
A Kilmartin spokeswoman says Cunningham was released from the hospital after a few days and has been held without bail since then. His probation violation is scheduled to be heard on Thursday.
