LINCOLN, R.I. (AP) – A film about world champion boxer Vinny Paz is expected to begin shooting in Rhode Island next month.
The Providence Journal reports that East Greenwich-based Verdi Productions President Chad Verdi and Paz were at Twin River casino in Lincoln on Thursday scouting filming locations for “Bleed for This.”
Paz said his life has “always been a movie” and “always been crazy” but that he wouldn’t have it any other way. He overcame a broken neck suffered in a car accident to again fight for a world title.
The actor Miles Teller will play Paz, while Aaron Eckhart will play his trainer, Kevin Rooney.
Famed director Martin Scorsese is a producer on the project. The movie is scheduled to begin shooting in Rhode Island on Nov. 10.
