A man has been arrested after two people were found dead in a North Providence home on Sunday.

Providence Police Chief Paul Martellini said Mark Yu, who lived with the two victims, has been charged with two counts of murder and two counts of failure to report a death.

Martellini said he could not confirm the relationship between Yu and the victims at this time, but said it is possible they were Yu’s parents. The autopsies of the deceased are expected to be completed tomorrow.

Yu was arraigned at Kent County District Court and is currently being held at the ACI.

Martellini said this appears to be an isolated incident.

“This is a quiet community.” he said. “This is not typical.”

North Providence Mayor Charles Lombardi agreed.

“It’s a very nice neighborhood,” he said. “It’s a little disturbing because we’re not used to this.”

Police discovered the bodies of the two victims Sunday afternoon after an out-of-state relative asked police to check on their well-being.
