A blizzard warning will go into effect at 6 a.m. Friday and will last through 1 p.m. Saturday.
The warning affects eastern and southeastern Massachusetts and all of Rhode Island including Block Island.
The storm is expected to bring heavy snow with accumulations of 18 to 24 inches and winds gusting up to 65 miles per hour.
Light snow will begin to develop on Friday morning and will steadily become heavier through Friday evening into Satuday.
The National Weather Service says white out conditions are anticipated, and visibility could decrease to one quarter mile or less.
