With all of the talk locally about Sun Butter sandwiches being served to students in Warwick, WPRO morning man Gene Valicenti decided to see what all the fuss was about.
Sunflower butter is served to students instead of peanut butter because of the large population of students who are allergic to peanuts.
The Warwick school district will begin serving cold sandwiches instead of hot lunches to students whose families owe lunch money. Warwick Public Schools says it is owed more than $40,000 from outstanding lunch payments and cannot afford to absorb the costs.
