Free trains running to National Guard Air Show this weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Free trains are running to one of the most popular events of the summer, theRhode Island National Guard Open House and Air Show.

The show is Saturday and Sunday at Quonset State Airport in North Kingstown.

Traffic typically becomes heavily congested.

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation worked with the show’s organizers to offer free trains to get to and from the event.

Attendees can park for free and catch the train at the Providence station or T.F. Green Airport station in Warwick. The earliest departure is 7:29 a.m.

There will be two train departures per station and three returning trains, stopping at both stations. The schedule can be viewed online .

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds canceled their appearance at the show after one of their jets crashed.
