FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (AP) — A Framingham man arrested by local police for the 38th time says his latest apprehension is based on lies.

The MetroWest Daily News reports that Sean Pelfrey was held without bail pending a hearing to determine whether he’s a danger to society at his arraignment Tuesday on charges stemming from two separate alleged assaults.

Police say he hit a man on the knee with a pipe on Sunday morning, and then threatened two people with a knife later that day. He was arrested Monday evening.

The 38-year-old Pelfrey’s lawyer says one alleged victim “lacks credibility.”

Pelfrey told the judge his accusers lied and he’s being held “for something I didn’t do.” He’s also been arrested at least nine times in neighboring Natick.

The dangerousness hearing was scheduled for Thursday.
