Developers say their dream of building a Rhode Island water park aren’t sunk yet.
In a Facebook post Thursday, the group say they are looking at sites in both Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts for the park, something developer David Cascioli confirmed when reached by phone this week.
The post reads: “We are so excited to announce that we have identified sites in Warwick, Pawtucket, East Providence, and Exeter Rhode Island, as well as Attleboro, Seekonk, and Wrentham, MA (Yes because of the limited locations in RI, we may have to choose a back up location just over our borders!)”
The post goes on to explain that leaders in Warwick, Seekonk and Pawtucket have already expressed their willingness to work on bringing a water park to their cities.
“We have met with [Cascioli] about his proposal and have suggested several sites,” said Warwick Mayor Scott Avedisian in an email. “We are always excited about new exciting economic development in the city.”
He said Cascioli has not submitted a specific proposal to the city just yet.

Last year, Cascioli, the former manager of Rocky Point Amusement Park, announced his idea for a seasonal water park that would feature 12 slides off two slide towers, an interactive children’s area, a 20,000 square foot wave pool and a lazy river. Entry to the park would range from $21 to $35 and parking would be free.
Cascioli had been eyeing land in Johnston and was hoping to open as early as 2016, but Mayor Joseph Polisena quashed the proposal.
In August of 2014, Casioli told WPRO that they were exploring East Providence as a potential alternative. Now it appears Casioli is broadening his horizons.
Thursday’s Facebook post also included a call for volunteers and donations. The Rhode Island Waterpark Facebook page has more than 12,000 “likes.”
